That Which Is Not Authorized, Is Prohibited
In many religious circles, the viewpoint is that anything which the bible does not forbid is permitted. Those who hold this view ask the question, "Where does the Bible say that we can not." The result of this view is that the Bible is seen as a book of prohibitions.
Yet the scriptures demonstrate that God demands that we receive authorization from Him for all that we practice. Those who uphold this view ask the question. "Where does the Bible say that we can." The result of this view is that the Bible is seen as a standard of authorization.
The writer of the epistle to the Hebrews showed that a lack of authorization prevented Jesus from being a priest under the Law of Moses. Hebrews 7:12-14
